YouthTruth harnesses student and stakeholder perceptions to help educators accelerate improvements.
In 2008, YouthTruth was developed in collaboration with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to better understand student perceptions about their high school experiences. Since then, we’ve expanded dramatically to hundreds of schools, with over a half-million students surveyed in grades 3-12.
Student perceptions are linked to their academic outcomes, so it’s smart to know what students are experiencing in schools and classrooms. YouthTruth provides useful data and insight for superintendents and charter school leaders, principals, and teachers to integrate what students really think into their instructional and leadership decisions. As a way to include beneficiary feedback into their education programs, funders sponsor or offset participation costs for school districts and charter networks to participate in YouthTruth.
Through our validated survey instruments and tailored advisory services, YouthTruth partners with schools, districts, states, and educational organizations to enhance learning for all students. YouthTruth is committed to providing:
- Valid, reliable survey questions on the topics that matter most to school quality and teacher effectiveness.
- Customized services to meet specific needs and timing
- Student feedback on the overall school experience and/or feedback for specific teachers
- Interactive data visualization tools with student subgroup analysis, district and national comparisons, and indexed student comments
